On Tuesday April 2, the City Commission adopted Resolution 5128 which created the Livingston Recreation Facility District. This action followed the election on March 19 in which voters approved creation of the District to support the operations of the planned Wellness Center project.

Why are we updating the Zoning Code?

Livingston’s zoning code plays a critical role in shaping how the community grows and evolves. It determines where homes, businesses and public spaces can be located and establishes the rules that guide development. As the City grows and community needs change, it’s essential to ensure zoning regulations reflect the values, priorities and vision of Livingston.

The current zoning code doesn’t align with the City’s adopted Growth Policy, nor does it effectively address modern challenges and opportunities, such as:

The City is taking an important first step to improve municipal water services in the Montague, Sleeping Giant and Green Acres area by conducting a Preliminary Engineering Report (PER) to study a water extension. This report lays the groundwork for enhancing water infrastructure and ensures reliable service for current and future needs.

About The Plan

Kicked off in late summer 2023, the City of Livingston’s Downtown Master Plan is a community-driven process aimed at creating a guiding and cohesive vision for the future of Downtown Livingston. As a step toward implementing the City of Livingston’s 2021 Growth Policy, the Downtown Master Plan will provide the community with strategies to promote high-quality development, economic vitality, and enhanced activities in the downtown area — preserving the historic charm Livingston is known for while encouraging responsible growth.

The City of Livingston Public Works Department is working hard to ensure that all materials in the water system are known, inventoried, and up to modern standards. Although there is no lead in the water delivered to your home, particles of lead can enter your drinking water as it passes through lead service lines. While monitoring water quality is not new, we are asking city residents to help complete the questionnaire below, pursuant to the EPA's forthcoming Lead and Copper Rule Revisions, released in December 2020.
