Montana Silver Jackets - Interagency Floodplain Studies

Montana Silver Jackets

More than three years after the June 2022 flood event, the City of Livingston remains committed to improving our understanding of the Yellowstone River and strengthening our preparedness for future flood events.

Following initial field work completed in summer 2024, the United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) has made significant progress on the Interagency study evaluating the existing levee’s flood risk reduction capabilities. This included detailed hydraulic analysis, levee and bridge surveys, and data collection across key areas in Livingston.

The USACE is now preparing to release draft floodplain maps based on that analysis. These maps will provide valuable insight into how floodwaters may behave under various conditions, helping guide future planning and emergency response efforts. The City will share more information as the draft maps become available.
