Curb Extension Pilot Project Begins Tomorrow

Curb Extension Pilot Project Begins 07/24/2025

Starting tomorrow at 5:00 AM, City crews will assist with the temporary curb extensions at two key downtown intersections: Clark & Main Streets and 2nd & Callender Streets. Work will be completed by 7:30 AM, with no street closures or parking loss expected. Disruptions to traffic will be minimal and brief.

These temporary enhancements are part of a pilot project to test improvements recommended in the Downtown Master Plan. Upgrades include:

  • Painted curb extension areas
  • Refreshed crosswalk markings
  • Flexible bollards
  • Planters with flowers and pollinator plants
  • Benches (where space allows)

The Planning Department has partnered with MSU’s Western Transportation Institute to evaluate the project, and your feedback matters! Look for QR code signs at these intersections later this month to share your thoughts. These installations are temporary and will be removed in the fall, but the City will reuse the materials in future projects based on public input.
