Montana Silver Jackets - Interagency Floodplain Studies

Montana Silver Jackets

More than three years after the June 2022 flood event, the City of Livingston remains committed to improving our understanding of the Yellowstone River and strengthening our preparedness for future flood events.

Following initial field work in summer 2024, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) have made significant progress on the Interagency study evaluating the existing levee’s flood risk reduction capabilities. This included detailed hydraulic analysis, levee and bridge surveys, and data collection across key areas in Livingston.

On July 15, 2025, FEMA provided draft floodplain maps based on that analysis. These maps are included in the presentation below and provide valuable insight into how flood events may impact the Community. The City of Livingston continues to work with FEMA and USACE on the project and further updates will be available in the coming months.
