Consolidated Land Use Board

Consolidated Land Use Board

On December 5, 2023, the Livingston City Commission created a Consolidated Land Use Board pursuant to the allowances created by 2023 Montana Senate Bill 130. Effective on February 1, 2024, the Board will exercise the powers that were formerly granted to both the Planning Board and Zoning Commission. The Board will meet on the Second Wednesday of each month at 5:30pm and meetings are expected to last 2 hours.

City residents that are interested in community development are encouraged to apply to join the new Consolidated Land Use Board. Using the application, interested residents should submit their interest to CityManager@LivingstonMontana.org no later than January 6, 2024. In order to be eligible for membership, applicants must be a resident of the City of Livingston for more than 30 days before submission of the application. Because the Board will both consider text and map amendments to the zoning provisions of the Livingston Municipal Code as well as applications that may come through the subdivision and planned unit development processes, applicants are encouraged to demonstrate how their educational and work history has provided the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to serve in the role.

The City Commission will be asked to consider applicants for appointment at its meeting on January 16, 2024. After appointment, Board members will be required to attend a training on February 5, 2024, to prepare for their service. The training will last most of the day and include training on both statutory process requirements and land use laws. Applicants should ensure that they are able to attend.

Prospective applicants are encouraged to send any questions they may have to CityManager@LivingstonMontana.org.
