"I believe that the primary goal of city government is to provide the civic infrastructure and services that most effectively promote economic development, without compromising the high quality of life that attracts people to this area. The biggest challenge faced by city government in Livingston is to provide quality public services with increasingly limited financial resources.  Livingston has a large number of very creative and energetic civic leaders and business people who are working to help build a robust and diverse local economy.  The commission's task is to facilitate this development by providing quality public services in a cost-effective way, while preserving the historical, social and resource values that are the main drivers of Livingston's economy." - Steve Caldwell
