FIRE PREVENTION PROGRAM
In 1925, President Calvin Coolidge proclaimed the 1st National Fire Prevention Week.  In the previous year nearly 15,000 lives were lost due to fire. "This waste results from the conditions which justify a sense of shame and horror, for the greater part of it could and ought to be prevented…it is highly desirable that every effort be made to reform conditions which have made possible so vast a destruction of the national wealth".
Livingston Fire & Rescue has made a commitment to providing fire and safety education, working to reduce the risk of fire and the toll it takes on our community. During Fire Prevention Week, we instruct over 400 children grades preschool though 3rd grade. When requested, we will conduct fire and safety programs to all ages.
Public education is a top priority and our firefighters are eager to spread the word. Training for your employees or a presentation to your group can be easily arranged by contacting the fire department.
