EASTER EGG HUNT
In April, area children eagerly anticipate the annual Easter Egg Hunt. This event is held in Sacajawea Park and begins promptly at 1:00 pm. Each year firefighters boil and dye nearly 5,000 eggs. Approximately 300-400 kids are separated into 3 age groups. (3 and under, 4-7 and 8-11) The event is started with a blow of the siren, causing a stampede throughout the target area. Firefighters have coined the phrase for this whirlwind phenomena as the "1 minute vacuum". (Actually, it's probably closer to 30 seconds!!) Special eggs are marked and are redeemable for prizes.
