Community Events

The Livingston firefighters are a community oriented group of people who sponsor several events throughout the year.
The following are annual community events:

EASTER EGG HUNT

In April, area children eagerly anticipate the annual Easter Egg Hunt.  This event is held in Sacajawea Park and begins promptly at 1:00 p.m. on Easter Sunday!  Each year firefighters boil and dye nearly 5,000 eggs. Approximately 300-400 kids are separated into 3 age groups. (3 and under, 4-7 and 8-11)  The event is started with a blow of the siren, causing a stampede throughout the target area.  Firefighters have coined the phrase for this whirlwind phenomena as the "1 minute vacuum".  (Actually, it's probably closer to 30 seconds!!)  Special eggs are marked and are redeemable for prizes.

KIDS FISHING DERBY
Ages 3-12

Summer is a special time in Livingston. The Livingston Roundup Rodeo and parade, boat float and Summerfest to name a few.  But for hundreds of children the highlight is the annual Kids fishing derby held at the Lagoon near Sacajawea Park in June. We coordinate with area hatcheries to introduce over 1,500 rainbow and brown trout into the lagoon. The sizes of fish vary from under 2 ounces to over 4 pounds. Every contestant receives a prize upon registration and hundreds of dollars worth of prizes are given away in a drawing.  Special prizes are given to the 4 largest fish.  All prizes are generously donated by local merchants.

Muscular Dystrophy Campaign
Every Friday before Labor Day, firefighters take over a portion of Park street to "fill the boot" for muscular dystrophy.  Money is raised for "Jerry's Kids" to help find a cure for this disease.
