About Our Form of Government
The City of Livingston operates under the commission-manager form of government, consisting of an elected 5 member commission and a city manager appointed by the commission. The city manager is responsible to the commission for the administration of all local government affairs authorized by law. City commission members are elected at large and on a non-partisan basis. Commission members are elected for four (4) year overlapping terms of office. The Livingston City Commission is the legislative and policy-setting branch of local government in our community.

Commissioner Listening Sessions are held on the 2nd Tuesday each month (except June and December) at various venues in Livingston. These informal meetings provide the Commission the opportunity to engage with and gain feedback from community members and provide an outlet for citizens to meet with the Commission. Scheduled Public Comments
If you have information and you would like to make a presentation to the Commission schedule a Public Comment or if you have additional requests, please call Faith at 406-823-6002. Presentation materials including videos, slideshows, or handouts are required to be submitted the Tuesday before the scheduled meeting before 5 pm. Handouts provided during meetings should be given to the City Clerk to distribute to the Commissioners and included in the written minutes.
